Rebecca’s YA Book Club Blog Hop–The Diviners by Libba Bray

The Diviners by Libba Bray
I have long wanted to find a local book club. Unfortunately, the ability for me to attend even one more physical commitment has hindered this desire. Also, most gather around the coffee table book clubs don’t read a ton of YA in any given year.

SO

I’ve decided to try and start an online book club that is exclusively YA and I’m going to try and run it Blog Hop style.

I hardly think it’s important that I’ve never run a book club OR hosted a blog hop (seriously, I’ve never done either of these things so any advice it totally welcome here.)

I am totally banking on my love for YA and reading in general to show me the light as we go–build the plane as I’m flying it so to speak.

This is what I’m thinking, a monthly book club that starts a new book on the first of every month and ends on the last. You can link your blog in the Linky and on the last day of the month, post your comments about the book and we can all visit each other and have an online discussion, comment style, about the book. Clearly, we will probably need to have huge spoiler alerts for anyone not participating–I hate a spoiled ending!

Here is the book for January 2013: The Diviners by Libba Bray

    Rebecca –

This sounds like a neat idea. I’m beginning a book club over at my blog this year, too. Books on the craft, but I hope to throw some fiction in the mix. I’ve wondered how to approach it.

Your blog hop looks like a great way to do it monthly. I just bought a shipload of books…will have to see if I can get this on Kindle when it gets here. (Got a regular Kindle for Christmas, but sent it back for a Fire)

Check out LitLovers.com for some advice on book clubs. I’ve found it handy.

If I can get the book, I’ll most definitely join your hop. :o)

I can’t believe it, but I’ve never read a Libba Bray book! This might have to be the month to remedy that. I’ve got a new little one coming any day now, so I’m hesitant to commit to the book club at this point, but it sounds great!

    • Jess! A little one, how exciting!! If you do decide to join, I promise not to come knocking on your door if you don’t finish. We are totally chill here (especially when it comes to new mommas!) So I do hope you’ll consider it, she’s an amazing writer!!

  3. This is a great idea Rebecca. I’ll probably try to join in after I get caught up on a few things. I think this kind of book club would work best for me too, cause I can never make the commitment to attend all the meetings and such. Wish I could. Can’t wait to hear how this book is!

  4. This sounds like an interesting premise, and I love Libba Bray. I just started a new blog just for my book related banter(originally I had an all in one geeky blog) and this sounds like a fun way to make posts as well as gain some followers! So, basically we post about our thoughts, likes and dislikes just as we would a book club?

Signed up under Google Friend as well!

    • Hi Jennifer…I just dropped by your blog! I hope you do decide to join my book club blog hop, I’m hoping it will be a very connective experience for everyone (and easier than attending a physical book club–plus ALL YA)

  5. This sounds like a fun! I’ve got to think about my reading goals for the New Year before committing. The New Year snuck up on me!

    • Emily, I love your new profile picture! So pretty. Well I for one hope you do join, I think of you as a blog hop expert! The first one I ever participated in was one of yours!

      Have a great New Year!

  6. What a fun idea! I’m part of a Skype bookclub and have loved it. Good luck with yours.

  7. Sadly I don’t have a copy and I’m pretty weighed down on my reading schedule. I think it’s a great idea this online book club. Best of luck and maybe I can take part next month.
