The Day After Goals Are Set

Just a friendly reminder that the day after your goals are set, you have to start moving towards them. Take one step today, then one more tomorrow. Before you know it we’ll all be 365 steps closer to our dreams.

And just imagine how far we’ll be if we take two steps every day.

Here are the things I’m doing today:

1. No more cookies
2. Finish chapter 19 in Midheaven
3. Research trips to Mexico for spring break.

What one thing are you doing today to step towards those goals you set on the 1st?

And please come sign up for my Book Club Blog Hop. We’re reading The Diviners by Libba Bray this month!!

You’re so right– I appreciate the reminder. We’ve set the goals, now what are we doing TODAY to move us forward, one step closer?

But eliminating cookies? Eegads but you’re brave.

  2. One thing I’m doing today is to get back on track eating-wise. I didn’t do too badly over the last few weeks but I can feel the difference. Now, where’s my water bottle…

Oh, and I’m going to start reading WIRED FOR STORY – my husband got it for me for Christmas. 🙂

    • Oo, Wired for Story looks good. I absolutely need to get back on track with eating. Living in sweats for the last two weeks hasn’t exactly provided a constrictive measure of holiday weight gain. ahem.

I agree. It’s so easy to be really enthusiastic at the beginning of January and completely forget about your resolutions by Feburary. I’m reading today – I’ve been reading a book a day recently, it’s fantastic! – and if I manage to get most of my work out the way, I might start working on my MS which I’ve neglected for so long. Great post, Rebecca!

    • A book a day! You must be a super reader. Goals are funny because sometimes, when I’ve set especially lofty ones that I’m no where near being able to accomplish, they make me feel overwhelmed and then NOTHING happens. Attainable goals with daily progress is my new motto.

Boo to no more cookies. But I think I need to adopt that attitude if I’m ever going to fit in my skinny jeans again. LOL

  5. No more cookies is going to be hard.:)

  6. Richard says:

You’re so right about taking it a step at a time. Good luck in 2013.

  7. Kelley Lynn says:

Hmm, I had two cookies today. I couldn’t do that. Haha. BUT I did drink more water today which is my goal this year. So that was good 🙂

    • Kelley, that’s what I should do, ditch my no cookie goal and focus on water. If I drink 4 gallons of water every day do I still get to eat half a dozen cookies AND lose weight? Maybe? No? 🙂

Dang, my list included eating more cookies and slacking off, but now you have forced me to do actual work. Thanks Rebecca….

  9. My main one goal on the 1st was to self-publish my WIP this year.

So I want to finish the first draft (which is also technically a second draft since I revise as I go) by my bday on March 6. To do that, I have to write 1K a day.

I’ve also made it a daily goal to be reading my genre (mature YA/NA Romance) more as I begin to write a genre I’m unfamiliar with (NA Romance). So as long as I read a few pages a day if I hit any slow writing moments, I’m good.

I also have a daily goal of meditating every day.

And I probably should add in a goal to learn how to cook my own food hehe. I’m always just preparing simple things like boiling pasta and adding sauce, eating quesadillas, eating frozen foods that I heat up in the toaster oven, etc. I need to do this too because I’ve recently become a vegetarian and my mom can’t always cook me a separate dish from my Asian family that loves meat lol
